गुरु पूर्णिमा का महत्व : गुरु को उनके भगवान् से मिलने का रास्ता बताने वाले गुणों और योग्यता के कारण भगवान से उच्च स्थान दिया जाता है जो गुरु पूर्णिमा के महत्व को दर्शाता है। गुरु को ब्रह्मा भी कहा जाता है, क्योंकि शिक्षक भी अपने छात्रों को एक नया जन्म देता है। गुरु सच्चे महादेव है क्योंकि वह अपने शिष्य द्वारा किए गए सभी दोषों को क्षमा कर देते है।गुरु पूजा शिक्षक और शिष्य के बीच आध्यात्मिक संबंध में समर्पण का एक दिन है। यदि शिक्षक मानवता के महत्व के बारे में शिष्य को न बताते और उन्हें आत्मा का ज्ञान न कराते, तो कोई भी मानव जीवन में आत्मिक विकास और संतुष्टि के महत्व को न देखता।
गुरु पूर्णिमा उत्सव : गुरु पूर्णिमा के दिन का कृषि क्षेत्र में भी अति महत्व है, व्यास पूर्णिमा को परिपक्व वायु परीक्षण किया जाता है। जोकि मॉनसून के दौरान कृषि और बागवानी के कार्यो के लिए अत्यंत उपयोगी है। व्यास पूर्णिमा को वायु परीक्षण के लिए अनुकूल माना जाता है। इस दिन मानसून का परीक्षण करके नई फसलों के लिए भविष्यवाणी की जाती है। इसी आधार पर अगले 4 महीनों के लिए सूखे और बाढ़ की स्थिति का अनुमान लगाया जाता है। भारत कृषि प्रधान देश है। इसलिए, यह दिन और अधिक महत्वपूर्ण हो जाता है।
व्यास पूर्णिमा उत्सव : महर्षि व्यास जिन्होंने महान ग्रंथ, महाभारत की रचना की, के जन्मोत्सव के उपलक्ष में महर्षि व्यास जयंती मेले का आयोजन किया जाता है। महर्षि व्यास ने महाभारत के साथ 18 पुराण, श्रीमद् भागवत, ब्रह्मा सूत्र, मिमांसा इत्यादि भी लिखे। वह ज्योतिष के पिता कहे जाने वाले ऋषि पराशर के पुत्र थे। श्रीमद् भागवत गीता महाभारत का भाग हैं। गुरु पूर्णिमा के इस अवसर पर, देश के विभिन्न भागो में मेलो का आयोजन किया जाता है।
