अट्टुकल पोंगाला केरल के महत्वपूर्ण और प्रसिद्ध त्योहारों में से एक है, अट्टुकल पोंगाला केरल के तिरुवनंतपुरम में अट्टुकल भगवती मंदिर में मनाया जाने वाला एक वार्षिक 10-दिवसीय उत्सव है। मान्यता के नौवें दिन, लाखों महिलाएं अटुकल देवी को प्रसन्न करने के लिए इकट्ठा होती हैं और देवी को फल फूल चढ़ाने की योजना बनाती हैं। अच्छी तरह से स्थापित मान्यता की शुरुआत में अलग-अलग मान्यताएँ और कहानियां जुड़ी हुई हैं। इसी तरह से महिलाओं में सबरीमाला मंदिर प्रसिद्ध है। अट्टुकल पोंगाला को 40 लाख महिलाओं के साथ मनाने की परंपरा है।
महिलाएं एक साथ आती हैं और बुलेवार्ड पर कामचलाऊ चूल्हा (स्टोव) की योजना बनाते हैं जो कि पोंगला नामक मिट्टी के बर्तन में बनाए गए चावल का एक दिव्य प्रसाद (नैवेद्य) स्थापित करते हैं। यह चावल, गुड़ और नारियल से बना है। लगातार उत्सवों में भाग लेने वाली महिलाओं की संख्या में वृद्धि के साथ, वहाँ ऐसी सूचियाँ हैं जिनमें सटीक क्षेत्र और एक टोकन संख्या है जहाँ एक भक्त आ जा सकता है। महिलाएं देवी भद्रकाली की पूजा करती हैं, जो देवी के सर्वोच्च अवतारों में से एक है तथा इस दिन को अट्टुकल अम्मा कहा जाता है। श्री लंका में, वह सिंहली बौद्धों द्वारा देवी पाथिनी के रूप में प्रतिष्ठित है
