जगन्नाथ रथ यात्रा पर्व उड़ीसा राज्य के साथ-साथ भारत के सबसे लोकप्रिय और महत्वपूर्ण त्योहारों में से एक है, यह एक वार्षिक कार्यक्रम है, जिसे जून या जुलाई के महीने में बड़े धूमधाम के साथ मनाया जाता है। यह भगवान जगन्नाथ (भगवान श्री कृष्ण), उनकी बहन देवी सुभद्रा और उनके बड़े भाई भगवान बलभद्र को समर्पित है। इसे गुंडिचा यात्रा, रथ महोत्सव, दशावतार और नवदीन यात्रा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
रथ यात्रा का हिंदुओं के लिए बहुत महत्व है। इस रथ यात्रा के समय तीन देवताओं भगवान् जगन्नाथ, भगवान बलराम और सुभद्रा को विशेष रूप से बने मंदिरों जैसे रथों में एक भव्य जुलूस में निकाला जाता है, जिसे हजारों भक्तों द्वारा खींचा जाता है।
ओडिशा के मूलनिवासी मानते हैं कि भव्य रथों पर मूर्तियों को रखने और उन्हें खींचने का रिवाज बौद्ध मूल का है। ईसा पूर्व 5 वीं शताब्दी में भारत का दौरा करने वाले चीनी इतिहासकार फा हियन ने बुद्ध के रथ को सार्वजनिक सड़कों के साथ खींचने के बारे में लिखा था।
जगन्नाथ रथ यात्रा महत्व :
जगन्नाथ शब्द दो शब्दों से मिलकर बना है जग जिसका अर्थ है ब्रह्मांड और नाथ जिसका अर्थ है भगवान जो कि इस सृष्टि के निर्माता है। भगवान जगन्नाथ को भगवान विष्णु के प्रतीकों में से एक माना जाता है। हर साल, भक्तों द्वारा रथ यात्रा मनाई जाती है। मूर्तियों को एक रथ पर निकाला जाता है और तीनों रथों को भक्तों द्वारा पुरी की गलियों से कुछ किलोमीटर दूर गुंडिचा मंदिर तक खींचा जाता है।
ऐसी मान्यता है, कि जुलूस के समय अपने भगवान को रथों से खींचना भगवान की शुद्ध भक्ति में लीन होने का एक तरीका है और यह उन पापों को भी नष्ट कर देता है जो शायद जानबूझकर या अनजाने में किए गए हैं। जगन्नाथ रथ यात्रा को बड़ी संख्या में उन भक्तो द्वारा भी मनाया जाता है जो दुनिया भर से भगवान के उपकारों की तलाश में आते हैं और अपनी इच्छाओं को पूरा कराते हैं।
रथयात्रा के समय मौसम और माहौल इतना सूंदर और उत्कृष्ट होती है कि श्रद्धालु ढोल पीटने की आवाज के साथ-साथ धुन और मंत्र गाते रहते हैं।
रथ यात्रा की कहानी :
हिंदू पवित्र ग्रंथों के अनुसार, एक बार भगवान कृष्ण की रानियों ने मां रोहिणी से भगवान कृष्ण के विभिन्न रास लीलाओं को गोपियों के साथ प्रकट करने का आग्रह किया था। रोहिणी ने भगवान कृष्ण की गोपनीय कथाएँ सुनाने से पहले सुभद्रा को द्वार पर भेजा कि वह किसी को प्रवेश न करने दें।
फिर, कुछ देर बाद कृष्ण और बलराम वहाँ आए और सुभद्रा के दाहिने और बाएँ तरफ वाले दरवाजे पर खड़े हो गए। उन्होंने भगवान कृष्ण की बचपन की कहानियों के बारे में माँ रोहिणी को सुनाना शुरू किया। जब वे कहानियों में मग्न थे, तभी अचानक नारद मुनि वहां पहुंचे। तीन भाई-बहनों को एक साथ देखने पर, नारद जी ने तीनों देवताओं को एक ही आसन में दिव्य शक्तियां प्रकट करने को कहा। नारद के कहे को पूरा किया गया और उन्हें तीनों देवताओं के दिव्य रूप में प्रकट होने का गवाह बनाया, और इसलिए तीनों जगन्नाथ मंदिर पुरी में रहते हैं।
कैसे मनाया जाता है जगन्नाथ रथ यात्रा महापर्व :
मंदिर की संरचनाओं से मिलते-जुलते, तीन बड़े आकर के सजाए गए रथ, पुरी की सड़कों पर भक्तो द्वारा खींचे जाते हैं। त्यौहार की शुरुआत रथ प्रथिस्त या सुबह के समारोह के साथ होती है, लेकिन रथ खींचना त्यौहार का सबसे रोमांचक हिस्सा है, जो दोपहर में शुरू होता है।
जब जगन्नाथ, भगवान बलराम और सुभद्रा जी के रथों को खींचना शुरू किया जाता है। इनमें से प्रत्येक गाड़ी के अलग-अलग विनिर्देश होते हैं।

It is dedicated to Lord Jagannath (Lord Krishna), his sister Goddess Subhadra and his elder brother Lord Balabhadra. It is also known as Gundicha Yatra, Rath Mahotsav, Dashavatar and Navadin Yatra.

The word Jagannath is made up of two words Jag which means universe and Nath which means God who is the creator of this creation. Lord Jagannath is considered one of the symbols of Lord Vishnu. Every year, the Rath Yatra is celebrated by devotees.
The idols are taken out on a chariot and the three chariots are pulled by devotees to the Gundicha temple, a few kilometers from the streets of Puri. It is believed that pulling your God from chariots during the procession is a way of being absorbed in pure devotion to God and it also destroys sins that might have been committed intentionally or unknowingly.
Jagannath Rath Yatra is celebrated by a large number of devotees who come from all over the world in search of the gifts of God and fulfill their wishes. During the Rath Yatra, the air is so beautiful and excellent that the devotees continue to sing melodies and chants along with the sound of drumming.
Story of Jagannath Rath Yatra :
According to Hindu sacred texts, once the queens of Lord Krishna urged Mother Rohini to reveal the various Ras Leelas of Lord Krishna with the gopis. Rohini sent Subhadra to the gate not to allow anyone to enter before telling the secret stories of Lord Krishna. Then, after some time Krishna and Balarama came there and stood at the door on the right and left side of Subhadra.
He began to narrate the childhood stories of Lord Krishna to Maa Rohini. When he was engrossed in stories, then suddenly Narada Muni reached there. On seeing the three siblings together, Narada asked the three gods to manifest divine powers to them in the same posture. Narada's words were fulfilled and he witnessed the manifestation of the three deities in divine form, and so all three reside in Jagannath temple Puri.
How Jagannath Rath Yatra festival is celebrated?
Three elaborately decorated chariots, resembling temple structures, are drawn by devotees through the streets of Puri. The festival begins with a chariot pratistha or morning ceremony, but the chariot pulling is the most exciting part of the festival, which begins in the afternoon when the chariots of Jagannath, Lord Balarama and Subramanya begin pulling.
