करदैयन नम्बू को 'सावित्री नोनबू विट्रम' के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, जो तमिलनाडु के क्षेत्र में विवाहित महिलाओं के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण उत्सव है। इस दिन, महिलाएं अपने पति की जीवन अवधि और समृद्धि के लिए प्रार्थना करती हैं। करदैयन नंबु को एक एक विशेष दिन पर देखा जाता है जब परिवर्तन दो तमिल महीनों के बीच होता है, पंगुनी और मासी। यह ठीक उसी समय पर देखा जाता है जब मासी का तमिल महीना बंद हो जाता है और पंगुनी की अवधि शुरू होती है। ग्रेगोरियन कैलेंडर में, यह उत्सव मार्च मास की अवधि में आता है। महिलाएं इस दिन एक विशेष व्रत रखती हैं और इस आयोजन के लिए अपूर्व गाला स्थापित की जाती हैं। करदैयन नम्बू को संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका, कनाडा, दक्षिण अफ्रीका, सिंगापुर और मलेशिया जैसे दूरदराज के देशों के अलावा न केवल तमिलनाडु के भारतीय क्षेत्र में पूरे हर्ष और उत्साह के साथ मनाया जाता है।
करदैयन नम्बू की कहानी
सावित्री - सत्यवान कहानी वह मूल कारण है जिसका हम करदैयन नम्बू से जुड़ा हुआ मानते हैं। सावित्री एक पौराणिक महिला हैं जिन्होंने शुरू में इस व्रत को रखा।
काफी समय पहले, एक शासक जिसे अस्तपति कहा जाता था, उनकी एक लड़की थी जिसका नाम सावित्री था। पिता ने अपनी छोटी लड़की से कहा था कि उसे अपने पति को चुनने का अवसर दिया जाता है। एक दिन सावित्री जंगल में टहल रही थी और तभी उसने एक युवा साथी को 2 बुजुर्ग के साथ एक शोक व्यक्त करते देखा। झोपडी के अंदर उसके माता पिता थे दोनो लोग नेत्रहीन थे और परिणामस्वरूप युवा साथी (सत्यवान) उनकी सेवा कर रहे है। यह देखते हुए कि वह आदमी गरीब है, सावित्री ने उसे अपना पति चुना और अपने पिता के सामने अपनी इच्छा को रखा।
शासक अस्तपति को अपनी छोटी लड़की की इच्छाओं को पूरा करना था और इसलिए उन्होंने ऋषि नारद से उसके बारे में पूछताछ की। नारद ने कहा कि सत्यवान एक शासक और शाही दंपति का बच्चा था। इस परिवार को उनके राज्य में किसी आरोप में पकड़े जाने के बाद वहां से निकाल दिया। नारद ने कहा कि इसकी आयु उसकी कुंडली के अनुसार एक वर्ष से अधिक जीवित नहीं रह पाएगा। उसके पिता ने उसे बहुत समझाने का प्रयत्न किया लेकिन, सावित्री मन ही मन सत्यवान को अपना पति मान चुकी थी कि वह सिर्फ सत्यवान की सेवा करेगी और अंततः विवाह हुआ।
शादी के बाद, कुछ वर्ष के लिए, सावित्री और सत्यवानहंसमुख तरीके से रहते थे। सावित्री को पता था कि सत्यवान का निधन जल्द ही करीब आ रहा था। वह गंभीरता देख रही थी और भगवान् से प्रार्थना कर रही थी की वो दिन न आये। फाल्गुन मास के समय, एक दिन भगवान यम धरती पे आये और सत्यवान के प्राण अपने पाश में ले गए। सावित्री ने सत्यवान की संकट को दूर करने वाले भगवान यम का पीछा करने के लिए दृढ़ प्रयास किए। उसके व्रत और उसके निरंतर प्रयासों को देखकर, भगवान यम संतुष्ट हो गए और उन्होंने सत्यवान को जीवनदान दे दिया ।

सत्यवान के समूह उत्कर्ष को वापस पाने के लिए
एक बच्चे के साथ उसके पिता सहर्ष रहे और
सत्यवान के माध्यम से अपने धर्मी बच्चों की सेवा करें।
तीसरी मदद को संतुष्ट करने के लिए, यम को सत्यवान को उसके साथ रहने के लिए वापस छोड़ने की आवश्यकता थी। इन पंक्तियों के साथ, सावित्री ने अपनी दृढ़ता, ब्रह्मचर्य के उपदेश और सूक्ष्मता के साथ अपने पति के जीवन की रक्षा की।
तो इस उत्सव को तमिल में सावित्री व्रतम / हिंदी में सावित्री व्रत के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इस दिन महिलाएं अपने पति की भलाई और लंबे अस्तित्व के लिए उपवास रखती हैं और भगवान से उनकी लम्बी आयु की कामना करती हैं। उपवास को दिन के भोर से रखा जाता है और पूजा के साथ साथ भजन भी किया जाता है। व्रत खोलने वाले करदई (चावल और दाल से बना) अनारक्षित मार्जरीन का प्रसाद खाकर व्रत खोलते है।
करदैयन नम्बू के दौरान अनुष्ठान:
करदैयन नम्बू के आगमन पर उपवास एक महत्वपूर्ण रिवाज है। शादीशुदा महिलाएं उठने के साथ ही व्रत रखती हैं। पूजा रीति-रिवाजों को पूरा करने के पश्चात व्रत खोला जाता है।
इस दिन वे देवी गौरी की आराधना करते हैं और देवी को संतुष्ट करने के लिए नैवेद्यम (प्रसाद) चढ़ाते हैं। देवी गौरी को करदई अर्पित करने के समय में असाधारण मंत्रों का पाठ किया जाता है।
Karadaiyan Nambu is also known as 'Savitri Nonbu Vitram', an important festival for married women in the region of Tamil Nadu. On this day, women pray for their husband's life span and prosperity. Story of Kardaiyan Nambu
The Savitri - Satyavan story is the root cause which we observe with the Karadaiyan Nambu. Savitri is a mythical woman who initially observed this fast.
A long time ago, a ruler called Astapati there had a girl named Savitri. The father had told his little girl that she had the opportunity to choose her husband. One day Savitri was walking in the jungle and then she saw a young fellow giving condolences to 2 elders. Inside the slum, his parents were both blind and as a result the young fellow (Satyavan) is serving him. Seeing that the man is poor, Savitri chooses him as her husband and puts her wish before her father.
The ruler Astapati had to fulfill the wishes of his little girl and so he questioned the sage Narada about her. Narada said that Satyavan was the child of a ruler and a royal couple. The family was expelled from his state after being caught on a charge. Narada said that according to his horoscope his age will not be able to live beyond one year. Her father tried to convince her a lot, but Savitri, in her mind, had accepted Satyavan as her husband and that she would only serve Satyavan and eventually the marriage took place.
After marriage, for a few years, Savitri and Satyavan lived cheerfully. Savitri knew that Satyavan's demise was soon coming to a close. She was looking at the solemn voice and prayed to God that those days should not come. At the time of Falgun, one day Lord Yama came to earth and took the life of Satyavan in his loop. Savitri made determined efforts to pursue Lord Yama, who had overcome Satyavan's crisis. Seeing his fast and his continuous efforts, Lord Yama was satisfied and he gave him life.
Savitri asked for three boons from Yamraj and finally had to obey him.

Adapt her father with a child and;
Serve your righteous children through Satyavan.
To satisfy the third help, Yama needed to leave Satyavan back to live with him. Along these lines, Savitri protected her husband's life with her tenacity, preachings of celibacy and subtlety.
So this festival is also known as Savitri Vratam in Tamil / Savitri Vrat in Hindi. On this day, women fast for the good and long existence of their husbands and pray to God for their long life. The fast is kept from dawn on the day of perceived progress and is broken with worship. Fast breakers Kardai (made of rice and lentils) breaks fast by eating prasad of unreserved margarine.
Ritual during Kardaiyan Nambu:
Fasting is an important custom on the arrival of Kardaiyan Nambu. Married women keep fast as they arise. The fast is broken after completing the rituals of worship.
On this day they worship Goddess Gauri and offer Naivedyam (Prasad) to satisfy the Goddess. Extraordinary mantras are recited during the season of offering Kardai to Goddess Gauri.
