फुलेरा दूज एक प्रमुख उत्सव है जिसे भारत के उत्तरी राज्यों में असाधारण उत्सुकता और हर्षोल्लास के साथ भगवान कृष्ण के पूजन अर्चन में मनाया जाता है। यह फाल्गुन के हिंदू महीने के दौरान या ग्रेगोरियन कैलेंडर के अनुसार फरवरी-मार्च के लंबे खंडों के समय शुक्ल पक्ष के 'द्वितीया' (दूसरे दिन) को देखा जाता है। 'फुलेरा' की उत्पत्ति हिंदी शब्द 'फूल' से हुई है जिसका अर्थ होता है खिल। फुलेरा के आगमन पर दूज के लोग खिलखिलाहट और उम्मीद के साथ होली खेलते हैं कि होली के ऊर्जावान रंगों से सभी का जीवन आनंदित हो जाता है।
फुलेरा दूज का उत्सव 'वसंत पंचमी' के त्योहारों और 'होली' के खूबसूरत उत्सव के समय पड़ता है। इस प्रकार, फुलेरा दूज के अधिकांश समारोह होली के त्यौहार से संबंधित हैं। फुलेरा दूज की जुड़ाई (जोड़ना) योजना भक्तों को असाधारण 'दर्शन' का आभास कराती है, जिसमें भगवान कृष्ण की लीलाओं और होली मनाने को दर्शाया गया हैं। यह भगवान कृष्ण के सभी मंदिरो, विशेष रूप से मथुरा, वृंदावन के लोगों और उत्तर भारत के कुछ जिलों में देखा जाता है। फुलेरा दूज के आगमन पर इन मंदिरो पर अदभुत साजो सजावट और रीति रिवाज निभाए जाते है। इसी तरह भगवान कृष्ण के प्रतीक मोरपंख पर होली उत्सव के प्रवेश की मुहर लगाने के लिए थोड़ा सा रंग लगाया जाता हैं।
फुलेरा दूज का महत्व:
शास्त्रीय और ग्रह संबंधी पूर्वानुमानों के अनुसार, उत्सव को सबसे महत्वपूर्ण और अनुकूल दिनों में से एक माना जाता है क्योंकि पूरा दिन भाग्यशाली होता है और किसी भी तरह के नकारात्मक प्रभावों और दोषों से प्रभावित नहीं होता है और बाद में इसे "अबोज्ह मुहूर्त" माना जाता है।
तात्पर्य यह है कि यह दिन सभी प्रकार के शुभ कामो को करने के लिए उचित है, उदाहरण के लिए, शादी, समारोह, सोने व् चांदी की खरीददारी, नए घर की खरीददारी आदि । शुभ मुहूर्त पर विचार करने या किसी विशिष्ट कार्य की योजना बनाने के लिए पंडित की सलाह लेने की आवश्यकता नहीं होती है। उत्तर भारत के राज्यों में, अधिकांश जगहों पर शादी की सेवाएं फुलेरा दूज की पूर्व संध्या पर होती हैं। व्यक्ति आमतौर पर इस दिन को अपना व्यवसाय शुरू करने के लिए सबसे उपयुक्त मानते हैं।

Phulera Dooj is a major festival celebrated in the northern states of India to commemorate Lord Krishna with extraordinary eagerness and intensity.
