शनि अमावस्या जिसे वैशाख अमावस्या के नाम से भी जाना जाता है | वैशाख हिंदू वर्ष का दूसरा महीना है। पौराणिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार, त्रेता युग का आरंभ इसी माह में हुआ था। इसलिए भी वैशाख अमावस्या का धार्मिक महत्व और अधिक बढ़ जाता है। दक्षिण प्रांत में, शनि जयंती को वैशाख अमावस्या के समय मनाया जाता है। अमावस्या का दिन धार्मिक क्रियाकलापों, पितरों के स्नान और दान के लिए बहुत उपयुक्त माना जाता है। काल सर्प दोष से मुक्ति पाने के लिए अमावस्या तिथि पर ज्योतिषीय उपाय किए जाते हैं।
शनि अमावस्या का महत्व
शनि अमावस्या 2 पंचांग घटकों के मिश्रण को इंगित करती है - अमावस्या तीथि और शनि वार। सीधे शब्दों में, जब अमावस्या शनिवार को पड़ती है, तो इसका परिणाम शनि अमावस्या होता है। शनि अमावस्या का दिन न्याय के देवता भगवान शनि देव को समर्पित है।
शनि अमावस्या एक दुर्लभ संयोग है जो साल में केवल दो बार आता है और इसे हर उस व्यक्ति के लिए आशाजनक माना जाता है, जो शनि के प्रभाव से परेशान हैं। इसका तात्पर्य है, शनि महादशा से प्रभावित व्यक्तियों के लिए या साढ़े साती के समय का अनुभव करने के लिए, शनि अमावस्या भगवान शनि की पूजा करने और प्रसन्न कर उनके आशीर्वाद को प्राप्त करने के लिए सबसे अच्छा दिन है।
वैसाख अमावस्या लोककथा
वैशाख अमावस्या का महत्व बताने वाली एक लोककथा प्रचलित है जो की पौराणिक ग्रंथों में भी पाई जाती है। कहानी उस समय की है जब धर्मवर्ण नाम का एक ब्राह्मण हुआ करता थे। वह बहुत धार्मिक थे। वह उपवास करते थे व् ऋषियों और संतों का सम्मान करना और उनसे ज्ञान प्राप्त करना आदि जैसे कर्म किया करते थे। एक बार उन्होंने एक महात्मा के मुख से सुना कि कलियुग में भगवान विष्णु के नाम लेने से ज्यादा और कोई पुण्य का काम नहीं है। अन्य युगों में, यज्ञ करने से जो पुण्य प्राप्त होते थे, वह इस अधर्मी कलियुग में भगवान के नाम के पुण्य फल से कहीं अधिक है। धर्मवर्ण ने इसे आत्मसात कर लिया और संसार की मोहमाया से मुक्त होकर संन्यास लेकर यात्रा पर चल पड़े। एक दिन यात्रा करते हुए वह पितृलोक पहुँच गए। धर्मवर्ण के पूर्वज वहाँ बहुत पीड़ा में थे। पिता ने उन्हें ज्ञात कराया कि उनकी यह स्थिति धर्मवर्ण के त्याग के कारण थी क्योंकि अब उनके लिए दान करने के लिए कोई शेष नहीं था। यदि आप वापस जाते हैं और एक गृहस्थ जीवन शुरू करते हैं, तो आप बच्चे पैदा करने पर हम लोग शांति और राहत अनुभव कर सकेंगे। साथ ही, वैशाख अमावस्या के दिन, विधि-विधान से पिंडदान करें। धर्मवर्ण ने उससे वादा किया कि वह उनकी उम्मीदों पर खरा उतरेंगे। उसके बाद, धर्मवर्ण अपने सांसारिक जीवन में लौट आए और वैशाख अमावस्या पर अनुष्ठान करके अपने पिता को संकट मुक्ति दे दी।
शनि अमावस्या व्रत और धार्मिक कर्म
पूर्वजों के उद्धार के लिए प्रत्येक अमावस्या पर एक व्रत रखना चाहिए।
इस दिन, नदी, जलाशय या कुंड में स्नान करें और सूर्य देव को अर्घ्य दें और तिल को जल में प्रवाहित करें।
पूर्वजों की आत्माओं की शांति के लिए, तर्पण और व्रत करें और एक गरीब व्यक्ति को दान और उपहार दें।
इसी तरह शनि जयंती वैशाख अमावस्या को मनाई जाती है, फलस्वरूप शनि देव को तिल, तेल और खिले हुए फूल आदि अर्पित करने चाहिए।
अमावस्या के दिन सुबह पीपल के पेड़ को जल अर्पित करना चाहिए और शाम को दीपक जलाना चाहिए।

Vaisakh Amavasya Story
There is a folklore telling the importance of Vaishakh Amavasya which is also found in mythological texts. The story is about a time when there used to be a Brahmin named Dharmavarna. He was very religious. He used to fast and do deeds like honoring sages and saints and gaining knowledge from them. Once he heard from the mouth of a Mahatma that in the Kali Yuga there is nothing more virtuous than taking the name of Lord Vishnu. In other yugas, the virtues achieved by performing Yajna are more than the virtuous fruit of the name of God in this impious Kali Yuga. Dharmavarna assimilated it and freed herself from the fascination of the world and started the journey with renunciation. One day while traveling, he reached Pitralok. The ancestors of Dharmavarna were in great pain there. The father made him known that his condition was due to the abandonment of Dharmavarna as there was no one left to donate for him now. If you go back and start a householder life, you can find relief on having children. Also, on the day of Vaishakh Amavasya, offer pinddaan by law. Dharmavarna promised him that he would live up to his expectations. Thereafter, Dharmavarna returned to his worldly life and performed rituals on Vaishakha Amavasya to free his father from distress.
Vaishakh( Shani ) Amavasya fast and religious deeds
A fast should be observed on every Amavasya for the salvation of the ancestors.
On this day, bathe in a river, reservoir or pool and offer arghya to the sun god and flow the sesame into the water.
For the peace of the ancestors' souls, perform tarpan and vow and give alms and gifts to a poor person.
Similarly, Shani Jayanti is celebrated on Vaishak Amavasya, consequently, Shani Dev should be offered sesame, oil and blossomed flowers etc.
On the day of Amavasya, water should be offered to the Peepal tree and lamps should be lit in the evening.
