Sita Ashtami, or Janaki Janma, is believed to be the day when Mata Sita appeared on earth as per traditional calendar and Panchangs followed in North India. Sita Ashtami is observed on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of moon) of Phalguna month (February – March).
It must be noted here that the birthday or Jayanti of Mata Sita is known as Sita Navami with Hindu communities in western and eastern parts of India and is observed in Vaishaka month (April – May).
उत्तर भारतीय पंचांगों के अनुसार सीता अष्टमी वाले दिन सीता माता धरती पर अवतरित हुए थी। फाल्गुन महीने के कृष्णा पक्ष की अष्टमी को सीता जयंती मनाई जाती है। माता सीता एक आदर्श पत्नी मानी जाती है। राजा जनक को माता सीता मिली थी व उन्होंने ही माता सीता का पालन पोषण किया था। माता सीता का विवाह श्री राम के साथ हुआ था।
