Vivah Panchami is a Hindu festival celebrating the marriage of Ram and Sita. It is observed on the fifth day of the Shukla paksha or waxing phase of the moon in the Margashirsha month (November – December) as per the Hindu calendar.
The day is observed as the Vivah Utsav of Sita and Rama in temples and sacred places associated with Sri Rama in the Mithilanchal region and North India.
The day is also of great importance at Janakpur in Nepal, where thousands of pilgrims arrive many from India, as it is believed here that Sita was born at Janakpurdham and got married to Bhagavan Sri Ram here.
