Gurudwara Bibeksar Sahib
Gurudwara Bibeksar Sahib was built 1628 on the banks of Bibeksar Sarovar. It is situated on the south-east of the Golden Temple In Amritsar. This beautiful Bibeksar Sarovar was built by Guru Hargobind Sahib, 6th Guru of Sikhs, and the present Gurudwara on the banks of this Sarovar was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. There is also a beautiful garden nearby Bibeksar Sahib Sarovar where the Guru Hargobind Sahib used to come for leisure walks. The two ancient villages of Chatiwind and Sultanwind Borders the Gurdwara.
Guru Hargobind generally used to rest on the banks of the Sarovar. Occasionally, he held Sathsang here in the evening as well. This is the place where the Guru taught his disciples strategies to be followed during the battles with the Mughal army. And at this place Guru Hargobind Sahib used to fasten his horse to Kareer Tree (this tree can still be seen). On the last Saturday of every month, the Gurudwara Bibeksar Sahib would be crowded with devotees, who assemble here to join in the Rainsbai Keertan program. The regular activities and management of the Gurudwara is under the control of SGPC. A Langar (free kitchen to serve meals for all the devotees) is also organized by SGPC.
