Satyanarayan Vrat is observed to get the blessings of lord Satyanarayana. Auspicious results of this fast have made it special. Apart from lord Satyanarayan, lord Rama, Lakshmana, Krishna and Ganesha are also worshipped during this fast. Therefore, the person also gets the auspicious blessing of all these deities.
Materials Required for Satyanarayan Vrat
Branches of banana tree, Kalasha, Panchratna, rice, camphor, Dhoop, wreath of flowers, Shrifala, Ritufala, clothes, Naivedya, Kalava, mango leaves, rose flowers, Deep, Tulsi, Paan, Panchamrit(milk, curd, Ghee, Honey, Sugar), Kesar, Bandanvar, Chowki(small wooden bed), picture of lord Satya Narayana.
Procedure of Worship of Lord Satyanarayana
The person observing this fast should bathe in the evening on the day of fast. After that, he should establish the picture of lord Satyanarayana at the place of worship. First of all, lord Ganesha is worshipped. Then, lord Rama and goddess Sita, Radha and Krishna, goddess Lakshmi, lord Shiva and lord Brahma are worshipped.
The person observing the fast makes the resolution that he is worshipping the lord Satyanarayana with full faith and expects that his wish will be fulfilled.
After that, read or listen to the saga of lord Satyanarayan. Perform the Aarti of all deities after worship, take Panchamrit and distribute the sweets. Offer Dakshina and clothes to the Purohit. After giving food to the Purohit, take his blessings.
